- Cold intensifies during Diwali nights; temperatures may rise by 2–3°C from Monday before fog, cloudy skies and thunderstorms bring another weather change
Ranchi (Jharkhand): The weather in Ranchi is gradually turning colder as winter approaches, with the minimum temperature expected to drop further on Sunday, making nights colder than daytime hours during Diwali. However, temperatures are likely to rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius from Monday, offering temporary relief from the increasing chill.
According to the Meteorological Centre’s forecast, Jharkhand is likely to witness another change in weather conditions from November 9. Morning fog and cloudy skies are expected in Ranchi and several other districts between November 9 and 12. Light rainfall accompanied by thunder is also likely in different parts of the state between November 10 and 12.
Minimum Temperature Falls 5.8°C in Four Days
Ranchi has witnessed a consistent decline in temperatures over the past few days. On Saturday, the maximum temperature fell by 0.5°C, while the minimum temperature dropped by 1.7°C. The minimum temperature has declined by a cumulative 5.8°C in just four days. On November 3, Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 20.2°C. Subsequently, it fell by 0.8°C on November 4, 2°C on November 5, 1.3°C on November 6 and another 1.7°C on November 7.
The sharp decline has increased the chill during early morning and night hours. With another drop expected on Sunday, people may experience colder conditions during Diwali celebrations, particularly late in the evening and at night.
Temperature to Rise by 2–3°C From Monday
The Meteorological Centre expects the downward trend in minimum temperatures to continue until Sunday. From Monday, however, the minimum temperature may increase by 2–3°C, bringing some relief from nighttime cold.
This respite is likely to be temporary, as weather conditions are expected to change again from November 9. Fog during morning hours and cloud cover may affect visibility and influence temperature fluctuations across the state.
Thunderstorms and Light Rain Likely in Several Districts
On November 10 and 11, thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall are likely in Deoghar, Godda, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Sahibganj and Dhanbad, besides some areas of Singhbhum.
On November 12, light rainfall is forecast in West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Pakur and Sahibganj.
With fog, clouds and intermittent rainfall expected over the coming days, Jharkhand is likely to experience fluctuating weather conditions through the middle of November.
